Gavin Johns, Swanage Railway Trust Chairman, reports on nominations for the annual Heritage Railway Association awards. These awards celebrate the achievements of volunteers and Heritage Railways throughout the UK
Three nominations were submitted for these industry awards. Regrettably our nomination under the Fundraising category for the excellent work led by Randy Coldham and the SOS appeal brand was not shortlisted, but two nominations were shortlisted under communications and groups:
Award for External Communications
Mid-Hants Railway and Bahamas Locomotive Society - Watercress Line Film Unit
Didcot Railway Centre - Overhauling the Centre’s Marketing Communications
Swanage Railway - Save our Service Film Makers (Josh Voce and Kevin Babey)
Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways - Media and Communications Department
Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway - It’s still a lot of fun!
Large Groups
Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway - Top Wheel installation
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway - Platform Teams
Swanage Railway - Social Media Team
Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Company
It’s going to be a tough competition, but it is good to see that we are up there with the best in the heritage railway industry and I really hope for a good outcome when the Awards are announced next spring.
