An important milestone has been achieved at the end of the first week of the Swanage Carriage Shed Appeal: a total of £10,964 has already been donated by Trust members and supporters towards our target for the year of £32,000. This is a truly marvellous start to the appeal and thanks go to everyone of you who has donated. We shall be holding various fundraising initiatives during the year for members and the general public and we are currently working on our grant application.
Meanwhile, work at the Herston site has continued even with the recent adverse weather conditions. Ducts have been laid for services, trenches back filled and setting out has been done. An amount of excess material has also been excavated and 100 tons removed from the site. A start has been made on casting the footings but ground conditions have been challenging with all excavations rapidly flooding.
